Suprtool 3.9 Extract with $date(..last)

There is a problem with suprtool version 3.9, which affects tasks which use the $date(..last) option on the EXTRACT command. e.g. :

     >get      d-sales
     >item     deliv-date,date,yyyymmdd
     >extract  deliv-date = $date(*/*/last)
     Error:  Invalid date
     Error:  Year = 1996 Month = 8
     Error:  Missing comma
