We know that given HP's announcement terminating HP 3000 support at the end of 2006, you are all evaluating your options. If you migrate your Ecometry application from MPE to HP-UX, many things will be different and challenging, but at least one can be reassuring, dependable, and familiar: Suprtool.

Suprtool runs on HP-UX - and has done for 10 years!

New Suprtool Features: Just because HP is retiring MPE, does not mean that we have stopped work on it. Quite the contrary! We have been busy enhancing Suprtool on MPE (and HP-UX). Many new functions are released or in the works:

Suprtool now has a $Number function which will allow Suprtool to use a freeform ascii number with signs, decimal places and currency symbol as a display field.
The new Clean command removes non-printing characters like LF from your Export files.
Suprlink now supports many-to-many links.
$Subtotal computes running total for a numeric field and resets on sort break.
Suprtool now has a "$edit function for formatting data.
You can now extract a field from a Table by key and use it to update records.
String expressions, persistent Redo, $Days and $Truncate functions...

We have been busy and we plan to stay busy. We will support Suprtool for many years to come. And we have the resources to do it. We have streamlined the company and our business processes to better enable us to service your changing needs at the highest service standards.

And if you are using our Qedit for Windows, rest assured that it works fine on HP-UX servers as well.

As an Ecometry customer for MPE, you are already a Robelle customer, even if you don't realize it, since the Ecometry application uses Robelle's Suprtool to speed up data access. Suprtool is installed on your system along with Ecometry and is used extensively by the application. However, you can also use it yourself to help produce custom reports and debug problems with your data. The big advantage is the speed with which Suprtool can churn through your large datasets to find what you need.

How To Keep Users Away From MPE Colon Access

Brad Rish of Catalog Ventures, an Ecometry user in Chelmsford MA, asked how to keep users from getting MPE "colon" access. He wanted to be sure that his users could access only the programs he wanted them to use. Brad was unaware that as a user of Suprtool, he already had a Robelle utility that would do exactly what he wanted. SELECT, a bonus program that comes free with Suprtool and Qedit, is a menuing program that allows the system manager to setup exactly what choices he would like users to see when they logon. Ecometry supplies its customers with special instructions for installing Suprtool. These are mostly the same as Robelle's standard instructions, except there are additional steps at the end to update the Ecometry code accounts.
